Social Calendar

We are excited to announce the registration for the upcoming Science Communication Congress social programme in Gran Canaria! Join us for a series of cultural and educational activities designed to highlight the research, history and natural riches of the island of Gran Canaria.

The activities will take place on the 13th of May; we ask participants to choose their preferred activity when registering for the conference.

Pre-Conference Opportunities (13.05.2025)

Reservations will be accepted on a first come, first serve basis, so make sure to reserve your seat as soon as possible!

PLOCAN and Banco Español de Algas

  • Length of the visit: 3.5 hours
  • Suggested schedule: 08:30 – 12:30
  • Maximum visitors: 50 people
  • Description of the visit: The group will have two guided visits within the Marine Technology Centre of Taliarte, accessing the labs of the Oceanic Platform of the Canary Islands and the Spanish Algae Bank.

Cueva Pintada de Gáldar and Cenobio de Valerón

  • Length of the visit: 4 hours
  • Suggested schedule: 08:30 – 12:30
  • Maximum visitors: 50 people
  • Description of the visit: Archeologists will present the ancient caves of the guanches (Canarian natives) and their ways of surviving in the north of the island. Visit to two archeological sites in Gáldar.

Jardín Botánico Viera y Clavijo

  • Length of the visit: 4 hours
  • Suggested schedule: 08:30 – 12:30
  • Maximum visitors: 40 people
  • Description of the visit: Guided visit to the Canarian Gardens, located on the edge of the Guiniguada ravine, boasting plant life from the whole of the Macaronesia region. It is the biggest botanical garden of Spain with 27 acres.

FAUNA – Visit to Aquarium Poema del Mar

  • Length of the visit: 2 hours
  • Suggested schedule: 14:00 – 16:00
  • Maximum visitors: 50 people
  • Description of the visit: Visitors can discover the aquatic biodiversity of the 5 continents through a route that covers three main areas: surface marine ecosystems, deep marine ecosystems, and freshwater species with a marine biologist.

Conference Dinner (14.05.2025)

Conference dinner is included in the price of registration. Diner for accompanying persons is subject to availability, organizers will share more information about availability and options once the conference registration is completed and closed
