In Other Words, and Other Worlds

In an age of constant connection, public engagement and science communication risk becoming uniform, shaped by shared assumptions and familiar approaches. Yet the richness of our field lies in diversity—in perspectives, practices, and voices.

At #EUSEA26, we invite you to move beyond the usual. Together, we will build on our shared experiences and learn from diverse cultures, opening ourselves to new ways of communicating and fresh approaches to both local and global challenges—whether through the words we speak, the food we share, or the music that moves us.

This is an opportunity to go further—beyond language, beyond practice, beyond borders—and to explore the breadth and depth of EUSEA’s culture of engagement.

1.  Breaking communication barriers :

  • Amplifying unheard voices and diverse perspectives.
  • From one “universal science” to many literacies and languages.

  • Designing engagement that is truly accessible to all.
2. Rewriting the rules of engagement.

  • Challenging assumptions and shifting power through collaboration.

  • Breaking conventions to develop fresh practices.

  • Innovation born from disruption and experimentation.

3. Cultural Exchange

  • Increase outreach by embracing alternative perspectives.
  • Innovative engagement through collaboration.
  • Lessons from local and global communities.
4. Beyond Words:

  • Inclusive methodologies that move beyond text and speech.
  • Multisensory experiences, as tools of understanding.
  • Creating connections through embodied and shared experiences.
5. The language of innovation:

  • Levelling the playing field through inclusive innovation.
  • Connecting grassroots action with institutional and policy change.
  • Embedding culture and creativity in decision-making.

We encourage contributions from a wide range of disciplines and perspectives.
