Parallels Sessions V – 5.3 – Scenario Workshop

May 16 @ 11:00 am - 12:30 pm

Christopher Styles, EUSEA, United Kingdom

Helping citizen science grow – How can we engage better with grassroots citizen science initiatives?

The IMPETUS project, through its accelerator program and partnership with the European Prize for Citizen Science, supports and elevates underrepresented voices in the research community by providing recognition, financial support, mentoring, and training for citizen science initiatives. Despite the global reach of the science community, grassroots initiatives often struggle to connect with larger organizations. The IMPETUS team aims to address this issue within the EUSEA community by exploring communication strategies and identifying groups that are overlooked. Through dialogue, they seek to integrate grassroots organizations into the citizen science community, provide additional support, and promote their vital work. This session will culminate in a communication action plan to enhance outreach efforts, ensuring visibility for future citizen science projects and opportunities offered by IMPETUS.
